~My Awesome Friends~ {4th of July}

My friends had a craft night the other evening and I couldn't make it.  I was sad.  We hadn't gotten together and crafted for a couple months, and they were making some seriously cute 4th of July crafts!
I came home last night from eating dinner with my family, and look what I found waiting on my porch!  My sweet friends made the crafts for me!  How awesome are they?!!  Chatty Walls cut the vinyl, that was used as a stencil for these.
Thank you so much!

The Quillo Project

My girls were bored already 2 weeks after school let out.  So I asked them what they wanted to do, and they said they wanted to learn how to make a quilt.
I thought that would be fun, except if we made a real quilt, a pieced top with hand quilting, I know that I would end up doing most of it myself.  I wanted them to learn how to make something that they were capable of starting and finishing themselves.
So we decided on tying the quilts.  We just made lap sized ones.  But they had a blast tying them and racing each other to see who had the most rows done first.
They are two yards long, just of normal 42" wide cotton.  We decided to make them into Quillos which is basically a quilt with a pocket on the back so that you can fold it up into the pocket and turn it into a pillow.  They are perfect for the couch or for car trips.  I just made theirs after one I made way way way back in High School, but I found a website that has nice instructions on how to make them.  It is HERE.
The girls were so happy with the way they turned out.
They have really loud tastes in fabric.  Hehehehe, but they love them and that's all that's important.
Here's a picture of the back, you can see the pocket on the bottom.  The girls and I were able to do both quilts in an afternoon, they are really quick projects.  Perfect for a "I'm bored" day.  :)

Simple Baby Boy Quilt

My husbands friend at work had a baby boy, and so another baby quilt needed to be made.  I love making them!  They are quick projects since they are small, and I like that they are snugly and cuddly.
I found all these fabrics at Joanns.  I thought the two owl prints were so sweet, so we went with those, a stripe, a chocolate minky and a white furry fabric.  The back in a dark olive green flannel.  I used a thin warm and natural batting for the inside since the outside has lots of heavy or warm fabrics.  There are lots of fun textures for the baby to play with, I hope he enjoys it!

Baseball Wreath

It was my friends birthday last month and when I saw this idea on Pintrest, I had to jump on it!  Her and her family are super into baseball.
I found all the little hacky sack baseballs at Party City.  I had to get 3 packs of 12 to do the wreath.
The inside is just a foam form from Hobby Lobby.
I wrapped the form with wide red ribbon and hot glued it on.
Then hot glued all the balls on.
I used red and white tulle and various baseball and patriotic ribbons for fun.

It was a fun project for me because it was something different from the wood crafting or sewing I normally do, and it is always fun to give homemade gifts.  :)

Menu Board Teacher Gifts

A while back a made a menu board for one of my friends birthdays, it was so much fun that I decided to make them for the last day of school gifts for my kids teachers.  I had fun with the colors and also changed out one of the birds for a cupcake.  I thought I'd share some of the colors I did for them here.
