Simple Things Pallet Art

Pallet projects are the most fun to make!  Every single one turns out so different, even if you use the same paint color on all of them, they all vary because of the aged wood.  On this one above, you need 6 slats from an old pallet.  They can all vary in width too, it just make it more fun.

I cut 5 boards at 30", and then I cut the last board in half exactly.  It is the braces across the top and bottom on the back side of the pallet art.  I used wood screw to screw it all together.

Then on 2 of the boards, I mixed 1/4 paint with 3/4 parts water and washed the boards.  The other three boards I left natural.  I loved the looks of them and didn't want to change it.  I used vinyl as a stencil and put it down as best I could.  The vinyl does NOT stick well to old weathered wood, so it is important to dry brush the paint on so it doesn't leak under the stencil.  After the paint was on, I ripped the vinyl off and it was done.  I love it and I loved how everyone's in the class I was teaching, turned out differently.

Go into the World & Do Good and Be Awesome Today

At the last craft day we had, I wanted to do a couple generic fun boards that could work for so many things.  Mother's Day/Birthday Gifts/Kids Room or Family Room Decor/End of Year Teacher Gifts, etc.  These are two of the seven projects we did that week.

Up above, the board measures 1x12x12 and is painted black with white vinyl.  Super quick and easy board.
This board was really large, the picture is deceiving.  It measure 1x6x30.  It is also painted black with white vinyl.  I've seen this design everywhere and think it is super cute.  :)

This is my new Family Rules Board.  We have another one that's larger too that I love.  I'm thinking I need one by every door in this house, so the kids will see it every time they come in the house, and every time they leave the house.  But will they read it and follow it....probably not always, but I like it anyway.  :)

This one is on a 1x12x24 pine board.
I painted the board black, put on a vinyl stencil, painted the lettering white and ripped off the vinyl.  I then distressed it with a sander and this is what I got in the end. :)
